Free Topic 2: Kimi no nawa (Your name)

Today I want to tell you about one of my favorite movies, and in fact one of the best in anime: Kimi no nawa.

The plot of the film revolves around two characters: Mitsuha Miyamiza and Taki Tachibana. Mitsuha is a little girl frustrated by her simple life in the Japanese countryside and her temple responsibilities in her care. Her greatest wish is to move to Tokyo.

This is where the movie begins, where Mitsuha has a vivid dream of being a boy in Tokyo. The next day the next day she didn't understand how she did not remember anything from the previous day or the comments of her close friends telling her that she had behaved in a strange and very masculine way.
Turns out her dream was not a dream, Mitsuha exchanged bodies with Taki, a young man from Tokyo. From that moment on, both become aware that they are exchanging bodies, they leave messages to have communication and see how they continue while this "phenomenon" occurs.

However, the exchange and agreement between the two prove to be of great help to both of them. Mitsuha helps Taki with her love life, while Taki helps Mitsuha become more popular at her school and in her small town.

From that starting point, both the people of Mitsuha and the love that is born between them becomes the focus of the film. Creating one of the most beautiful movies of the last decade.
Philosophically, there is a trade-off between the film and the city, but the final message it gives is that the world is great and it is there for us to enjoy, to find our place.

On a visual level, animation can only be described as wonderful. Perfect when it comes to showing every detail and a lot of realism representing the Japanese urban or natural world. Art seems to take on a life of its own. It is that kind of film where you can easily take any picture or scene and use it as wallpaper for your computer.

The panoramic views of the city of Tokyo, the town of Hida and nature are undoubtedly impressive for their level of detail and life. Now in portraying the characters, both main and minor, they make them so real and empathetic that they seem real by making the film look like a segment of real life.

Another strong point is the soundtrack, by RADWIMPS, which is perfectly in tune with the pace and themes of the film.

It remains for me to say that this movie is genuinely brilliant, food and very sweet. With a fantastic third act that changes the whole story completely and a very unusual but still beautiful ending. It can easily be said that it is one of the best anime movies of the last decade.

If you have the opportunity to see this movie, watch it, the animation is brutal, attractive characters with whom you can identify, visually colorful. It meets all the requirements to be considered a "masterpiece".
